ESTADO DE MÉXICO, MEXICO, October 6, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Three Narconon residential rehabilitation centers in Mexico have received federal recognition from the National Commission for Mental Health and Addictions (CONASAMA), following a review of their compliance with applicable requirements for residential addiction treatment facilities.

The recognition was presented during an August 13 ceremony at Narconon Latino America, attended by national and state health officials representing the State of Mexico, Puebla and Sonora.

The three centers receiving recognition were Narconon Latino America, Narconon Puebla and Narconon Navojoa.

CONASAMA is an administrative body of Mexico’s Secretariat of Health responsible for coordinating and overseeing mental health and addiction services. Its recognition process evaluates residential facilities in accordance with applicable federal regulations, including NOM-028-SSA2-2009, the Mexican standard governing the prevention, treatment and control of addictions.

The review process addresses areas including clinical documentation, treatment procedures, medical oversight, facility operations, nutrition, safety, administrative responsibility and protections for people receiving residential services.

The standards also place an emphasis on ethical treatment, patient dignity and respect for human rights.

During the ceremony, Dr. Yerania Emireé Enriquez Lopez, National Commissioner for Mental Health and Addictions, addressed the importance of voluntary participation, individualized services and patient rights within residential treatment.

“These centers represent a paradigm shift in the way residential care is understood,” Enriquez Lopez said. “Today, we are moving toward a model in which voluntary participation and services tailored to individual needs are the fundamental principles, with residential treatment considered as a therapeutic alternative that provides the greatest possible benefit whenever it is necessary.”

She added that residential centers should provide safe and dignified environments free from discrimination and stigma.

The recognition also reflects the work required by residential facilities and their staff to implement and maintain applicable standards in their day-to-day operations.

Karen De La Cuesta Soria, Director of Mental Health and Addictions for the State of Puebla, addressed that responsibility during the presentation.

“More than simply fulfilling a series of requirements, this recognition represents the dedication and continuous effort of a team that has made quality, safety and respect for people its primary objectives,” De La Cuesta Soria said.

For Narconon, the CONASAMA recognition is part of a broader effort to operate its centers in accordance with applicable standards and requirements in the jurisdictions where they provide services.

The President of Narconon Puebla described the recognition as both an achievement and an ongoing responsibility to contribute to efforts addressing addiction in Mexico.

“Receiving this recognition from the National Commission for Mental Health and Addictions represents much more than obtaining a document,” the president said. “It represents trust. But above all, it represents responsibility.”

The president also pointed to prevention, education and support for individuals and families affected by substance use as continuing priorities.

CONASAMA maintains a national directory of recognized residential facilities that have demonstrated compliance with applicable requirements for providing residential addiction services.

The recognition of the three Narconon centers reflects the completion of that review process and their inclusion among facilities meeting the applicable federal requirements.
