Wuffes, Enters Dog Dental Category with Proprietary SuperYolk™ IgY Technology in New Dental Powder Range
PR Newswire
CHEYENNE, Wyo., Sept. 18, 2026
The supplements brand behind a breakout year in retail and new category expansion introduces its most advanced ingredient innovation yet, and gives the pet trade a first look at its new visual identity
CHEYENNE, Wyo., Sept. 18, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Wuffes, the science-led dog supplement brand that has served more than 1.3 million dog parents, today announces the launch of its Dental Powder supplement range.
Powered by SuperYolk™ IgY Technology, a proprietary ingredient exclusive to Wuffes and the first of its kind in the US canine dental supplement market.1 The launch marks Wuffes’ entry into oral health and arrives on the back of one of the most significant periods of growth in the brand’s history.
Proprietary SuperYolk™ IgY Technology
Most major canine dental supplements on the US market today rely largely on the same seaweed-derived ingredient — Ascophyllum nodosum kelp — to slow plaque formation via saliva.
SuperYolk™ IgY Technology, exclusive to Wuffes, is built on an entirely different mechanism. At its core is the hero ingredient IgY Egg Powder; an antibody derived from chicken egg yolk that targets gingipain, the enzyme produced by the bacteria responsible for the vast majority of canine oral health deterioration.
Gingipain degrades gum tissue, sustains the bacterial biofilm, and drives the downstream effects owners recognise: plaque build-up, tartar, gum irritation, and bad breath.
The SuperYolk™ IgY Technology operates through three simultaneous mechanisms:
- Physically, IgY binds and agglutinates target bacteria. The natural action of eating helps to clear them from the mouth. There’s no brushing or compliance hurdle as the bone-broth flavor powder is simply served over food.
- Chemically, it interferes with the bacterial signalling and nutrient exchange that allow the harmful bacterial biofilm community to organise and mature.
- Biologically, unlike antiseptic approaches that disrupt the oral microbiome broadly, IgY selectively targets harmful bacteria while leaving beneficial flora intact, and the effect compounds with daily use.
The Research Behind It
The IgY Egg Powder active in SuperYolk™ IgY Technology has been evaluated in published, peer-reviewed canine research. An 8-week randomised controlled trial found, 100% improvement in occasional gum bleeding, 91% improvement in gum support markers, and 83% improvement in occasional gum irritation.2
“Dental is one of the biggest unmet needs in dog health – most owners know it matters, and almost none feel they have a real solution. Wuffes Dental Powder is powered by SuperYolk™ IgY Technology, a genuinely new, proprietary approach for this category: clinically tested antibodies from egg yolk that work on plaque at the start of the chain, rather than on tartar after it’s already formed. And it’s tailored by size, so a toy breed and a giant breed each get the concentration the research supports. That’s the standard we believe this industry should be held to, and I’m proud we’re setting it rather than waiting for it.”
— Jonny Purcell, CEO, Wuffes
“The honest truth about this category is that it hasn’t innovated on mechanism in a very long time. Products have gotten better at palatability, better at packaging, better at marketing. But the underlying science hasn’t really moved. We went back to first principles and asked what is actually causing the problem that almost every dog in America will face at some point in their life. The answer is gingipain. SuperYolk™ IgY Technology is built specifically to address that. This is meaningful innovation in a category calling out for it.”
— Elizabeth Davis, Director of Product Development, Wuffes
53% of Dog Owners Now Give Their Pets Vitamins or Supplements
The US pet supplement market has undergone a structural shift in recent years. According to the American Pet Products Association, 53% of dog owners in the US now give their pets vitamins or supplements,3 part of a six-year surge of 56% growth in canine supplement adoption.3 Pet humanization is the engine: as pets are increasingly treated as family members, owners are applying the same preventive wellness logic to their animals that they apply to themselves.
Within that market, oral health represents one of the most significant and underserved opportunities. The US pet dental health market was valued at $2.59 billion in 2024 and is projected to reach $4.53 billion by 2033.4 The need is near-universal: according to the American Veterinary Dental Society, 80% of dogs show signs of oral health deterioration by age three.5
A Sign of What’s to Come
Wuffes Dental Powder launches in four size-matched variants (Small, Medium, Large, Giant) calibrated to dog weight, manufactured in the USA, GMP certified, and free from kelp, artificial colours, flavours, and preservatives. It is the first step in the Wuffes Dental Defence System™, a multi-product oral health programme currently in development, with further products to be announced.
The launch also marks the debut of Wuffes’ new visual identity. Dental Powder is the first product to reach market in the brand’s refreshed packaging, with a full rebrand reveal planned for the coming weeks.
A Brand in Full Stride
Dental Powder launches as Wuffes continues a year of significant brand and retail expansion. Having built its reputation as the science-led mobility supplement for dogs, 2026 has seen expansion into new wellness categories with the launches of Allergy & Itch Chews and Calming Chews, marking Wuffes’ arrival as a truly complete wellness brand.
That momentum is matched by retail: over the past twelve months, Wuffes has secured shelf space at Hollywood Feed, Pet Supermarket, PetSmart, Petco, and Tractor Supply Company, establishing a national brick-and-mortar presence.
About Wuffes
Wuffes is a US dog supplement brand founded on a simple belief: your dog is already perfect, our job is to support them so they can stay exactly that way. Since 2020, that belief has driven the brand from a single mobility supplement into a complete canine wellness portfolio spanning joint health, digestion, skin and coat, calming, allergy support, and now oral health; serving more than 1.3 million dog parents worldwide in the process.
Every formula is built to The Wuffes Standard™: the right ingredients, at the right concentrations, in the right blends, scientifically validated and portioned for real results. That standard is what earned Wuffes a place in the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing companies in America — ranked #400, with over 1,000% growth in three years — and on the shelves of Petco, PetSmart, Pet Supermarket, Hollywood Feed, and Tractor Supply Company.
