Comp AI, the AI-native compliance and security platform, today announced a $34 million Series A led by Roo Capital and Grand Ventures. The raise follows a period of rapid growth since the company’s January 2025 founding, with Comp AI achieving 15x ARR growth year-over-year and now serving more than 1,000 customers. The funding will accelerate its expansion beyond compliance automation into continuous cybersecurity, from real-time monitoring and control validation to security testing across applications and infrastructure.
The first generation of compliance software transformed a process once dependent on spreadsheets, consultants, and months of manual preparation. But much of the underlying work still depends on people, leaving companies with periodic snapshots of their security posture. Agentic AI changes that constraint by allowing software to increasingly perform and validate work that previously required ongoing human intervention.
Comp AI is building around that shift, using organizational context and AI agents to automate onboarding, policy and risk generation, evidence gathering, control monitoring, and vendor assessments. The result is a faster path to compliance, helping software companies become compliant in days rather than quarters without sacrificing rigor. Comp AI serves customers across industries including healthcare, financial services, higher education, professional services, and software, such as Corgi, Dub, OpenCode, Inference, and Primer.
“AI is changing the security and compliance landscape quickly, and businesses can no longer afford to treat compliance as an annual box-checking exercise,” said Varun Sridhar, Principal, at Roo Capital. “Lewis and Claudio saw that shift early and built an agentic platform that makes compliance and security continuous. The gravitational pull they have received from the market shows us that customers have felt the pain and see the need for a platform like this one. Comp AI is exactly the type of company we are building Roo to back, and we believe it has a real opportunity to define this category. As company builders ourselves, we are excited to lead this investment and put Roo’s differentiated Capital + Talent + Growth model to work alongside the team as they scale.”
The shift is becoming more urgent as AI accelerates both software development and the threats against it. Companies are shipping and updating software faster, creating security environments that evolve more quickly than point-in-time assessments can capture. Security systems will need to keep pace, becoming more adaptive, real-time, and precise.
The company will use its Series A to expand beyond audit readiness and compliance automation into continuous cybersecurity capabilities powered by AI agents, spanning real-time monitoring and control validation to security testing across applications and infrastructure.
“The first generation of compliance software proved this process could be automated. Agentic AI lets us go much further,” said Lewis Carhart, CEO and Co-Founder of Comp AI. “Security software shouldn’t just track the work. It should understand the business, perform the work, and act as risk changes. We started by making compliance dramatically faster and less resource-intensive. Now we’re building toward a platform to proactively identify, validate, and act on risk in real time.”
As software companies sell to larger customers, enter regulated industries, and manage more complex technology environments, security requirements arrive earlier and become more demanding. Comp AI helps companies meet those requirements today while building a security posture that can keep pace as they scale.
“Historically, compliance has been an approximation of security because so much of the work could only be performed manually and periodically,” said Claudio Fuentes, COO and Co-Founder of Comp AI. “Agentic AI changes that constraint. Work that once required teams of people can increasingly happen continuously in software. At the same time, AI is making the threat landscape faster and more dynamic. We believe the next generation of security companies will be built around that reality from day one.”
Purpose-built for the agentic era, Comp AI is designing its platform around what AI agents can now do, rather than layering AI onto workflows designed before the technology existed. Its agents can reason across organizational context and increasingly execute work on behalf of security and compliance teams.
“AI changes both what software can do and how quickly technical teams can build it,” said Mariano Fuentes, CTO and Co-Founder of Comp AI. “As models become more capable, we can move beyond software that simply records whether security work happened toward software that can execute and verify that work.”
Comp AI will use the new capital to accelerate product and engineering development, expand its continuous cybersecurity capabilities, and bolster its team across its Miami headquarters and New York office. The company has grown 10x year-over-year and plans to hire across product, engineering, operations, sales, customer success, and marketing as it expands its diverse customer base to serve larger organizations with increasingly complex security requirements.
“When I first visited Comp AI in New York, the team was four people working out of a single room,” said Nathan Owen, General Partner at Grand Ventures. “Since then, an increasing number of our own portfolio companies have left other compliance platforms out of frustration and moved to Comp AI, and every one of them raved about both the process and the result. That’s the same thing I saw on day one: a team that moves incredibly fast, stays close to its customers, and makes every resource count. Growing to more than 1,000 customers this quickly is remarkable, and we believe they’re just getting started.”
